Exclusive and handcrafted with artisanal leather techniques, the Lou lead is made with Swedish “överfettet”vegetable-tanned leather that has been submerged in vegetable oil to make it both hardwearing and highly resistant to the elements. Count on this lead–after cold or rainy weather, it will not become stiff or dry. The rich, minimalist aesthetic is complemented by solid-brass hardware.
Dyed with natural products, such as oak, spruce bark, quebracho, olive leaves, and mimosa bark, vegetable-tanned leather is safer for your poodle’s hair and skin and helps to avoid the risk of allergies. It also ages beautifully with natural variations.

Made of natural materials with a record of environmental and social responsibility. Lead handmade in Norway of Swedish “överfettet” leather and solid-brass, German-made hardware.
While the material is not susceptible to color rub, some color transfer may occur against pale or abrasive garments. This is the result of disturbing the wax on the surface of the leather, and rather than a permanent dye stain, it is usually easily removable during a normal wash.
- ◄Care & Maintenance
- Leather: High-quality leather accessories may appear unyielding initially, but they will soon begin to shape according to your poodle’s habits and anatomy.
Clean with a damp cotton cloth and air dry. If using soap, choose a chemical-free, leather-suitable soap.
When dry, apply a thin layer of leather conditioner (we recommend using a neutral-colored, natural leather conditioner without silicones, which will agree with your poodle's coat too) with a soft shoe brush or soft cotton cloth.
If the leather becomes wet after washing or a rainy day out, let the leather dry at room temperature to preserve its supple nature. Avoid drying at high temperatures, such as on a heated floor or near a radiator, as this can retract, dry, and stiffen leather.
Brass hardware: Canem Studio brass not only ages beautifully, it is also nickel-free, eliminating the risk of nickel allergies for your poodle. Additionally, the brass is solid cast, which prevents changes in color. Simply use brass polish and wipe with a damp cloth to retain this beautiful hardware’s shine.
